ASTRA - Anti-Trafficking Action

ASTRAASTRA - Anti-Trafficking Action is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to the eradication of all forms of trafficking in human beings, especially in women and children, through comprehensive approach to the problem with the aim of eliminating this specific type of violence and affirming a society free of exploitation, violence, discrimination and social inequalities.

Objectives:

  • To secure comprehensive support to trafficked persons
  • To advocate for respect of victims' rights, adequate punishment for perpetrators, and improvements of the National Anti-Trafficking Mechanism;
  • To raise awareness on human trafficking among the general public and specific groups;
  • To find comprehensive solution to trafficking in human beings and other forms of violence, discrimination, economic and social inequalities

Portuguese Association for Victim Support

APAVThe Portuguese Association for Victim Support (APAV) is a private charitable organisation, recognised by law with statutory objective to inform, protect and support citizens who have been victims of crime. It is a non-profit organisation assisted by volunteers, which supports victims of crime, in a personal, sensitive and professional way, through the provision of free and confidential services. APAV provides psychological, emotional, legal and social support for victims of all types of crime. In the past years, APAV has been developing relevant work in the fields of prevention of human trafficking and supporting the victims of this crime, being involved in international and national projects in the area and also in the development of policies together with national authorities.

Human Resource Development Foundation

HRDFThe Human Resource Development Foundation, established in 1988, implements programmes to contribute to the solution of problems stemming from irregular population movements and to eliminate the factors that hinder social development. HRDF has expertise in implementing different programmes:

1- Reproductive/Sexual Health and Rights Programme: activities range from providing technical support on family planning counselling to prevention of STIs and HIV/AIDS and promoting sex workers' rights.

2- Irregular Migration: Activities range from providing psychosocial assistance to asylum seekers/refugees to combating human trafficking and promoting human rights of undocumented migrant workers. 

3- Community Development: Establishing community centres in poor neighbourhoods of cities with special emphasis on empowerment of women.

Genera - Association en Defensa de los Derechois de las Mujeres

Genera - Asociacion en Defensa de los Derechos de las Mujeres is an organisation based in Catalonia. Its work is aimed at defending and claiming rights from a gender perspective. Sex work, migration and trafficking in women are all in its fields of action. Direct intervention on sex work spaces, knowledge-building and community action are the strategic lines.

La Strada International

LSI-20-Years motto 101214La Strada International is the International Secretariat of the La Strada network (formed by the La Strada organisations in Poland, Belarus, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria, Macedonia and the Netherlands). All La Strada member organisations are registered as independent non-governmental organisations and work at the grassroots level, on the issue of trafficking in human beings. Some members also work on the issue of gender-based violence violence.

La Strada International focuses on international networking, lobby and advocacy and public relations on behalf of the member organisations as well as producing common policies, action plans, harmonised lobby and advocacy programmes. La Strada International works on the expansion of its relations with national and international organisations, national governments, European institutions and UN bodies. The secretariat supports capacity building of the members and provides a forum for NGOs on the issue of human trafficking. It also houses an international archive and documentation centre and manages the international La Strada website.
