La Strada Bosina and Herzegovina

Foundation La Strada Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H)

LS_BHLa Strada Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H) was established in 1997. It was first registered as Women Development Centre in 1999 and re-registered as La Strada in 2003.

La Strada B&H runs programmes on Information and Lobby (especially focused on open shelters); Prevention and Education; and Social (Direct) Assistance. Its Direct Assistance programme provides comprehensive care and support for trafficked women including legal, social and medical assistance. Next to basic help and care programmes, La Strada B&H offers vocational trainings such as foreign language courses (Italian, English), computer courses, support in job seeking and support in the continuation of education. La Strada B&H also runs an open shelter.

La Strada B&H work on three levels:

  • Press Lobby activities
  • Prevention Education activities
  • Direct support to victims

Our activities include an ‘SOS’ line 1261 operating 24 hours a day and counselling centre for potential victims and trafficked victims, as well as for the general public.
La Strada B&H organizes workshops and trainings for professionals and stakeholders, including state police, border police, judges, prosecutors, journalists, social workers, investigators, and the B&H Task Force. The goal of these events is “how to become third neutral party in identification of victims,” as well as how to make professionals free of prejudice to victims.
