Moving the Whore Stigma: Report on the Asia and Pacific Regional Consultation on Prostitution, 1997
This is an outcome of the Asia and Pacific Regional Consultation on Prostitution held in Thailand in 1997. Jointly organised by GAATW and Foundation for Women, this marks the first regional effort to discuss the debate around the issue of prostitution and search for a common position on prostitution among women in Asia and the Pacific.
The late 90s saw the strengthening and formation of several sex workers rights groups in Asia. As a follow up to this consultation GAATW has held several meetings with sex workers rights groups in the Asian region and has facilitated research and advocacy projects with them.
