RURAL RECONSTRUCTION NEPAL (RRN)

RRNRRN is engaged in implementing integrated community development programmes at grassroots and policy advocacy, lobbying and networking at local, national and international levels for the cause of protecting and promoting human rights and social justice of the so far excluded people and establishing sustainable peace. RRN enjoys the Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. 

The approach RRN has adapted is conflict transformation, institutionalising grassroots democracy and peace building through reconstruction, rehabilitation and reconciliation (RRR) process of social, economic and cultural empowerment of the conflict affected, marginalised and vulnerable people and their communities. Such as participatory, integrated, pro-poor and rights-based, and the aspects like social inclusion, transparency, equity, short and long-term tangible impacts, collective action, demand driven, coordination, collaboration, community-led and sustainability are some of the key underlying elements of RRN’s successes in the programme intervention.

Pravasi Nepali Coordination Committee (PNCC)

PNCCPravasi Nepali Coordination Committee (PNCC), a non-profit, autonomous and migrant-led organisation working in the field of migrants workers and their families, was established in 1998 (Saudi Arabia) and in 2009 (Nepal). It works on the rights and welfare of Nepali migrant workers abroad, especially in Gulf Countries, and assists in the re-integration of the returnee migrants.

It aims to reach from grassroots level to the policy level. It works with the slogan "Lets Create migrant workers friendly atmosphere" consisting of pre-departure preparedness, post-arrival orientation and equal payment and courteous environment in the work place. It comprises thousand of members throughout the destination and and origin countries. PNCC has a strong network in six gulf countries (Saudi, Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman), 36 district branches and Migrant resources Centres in five districts.

Rights Jessore

RightsJessoreRights Jessore is a Secretariat for an NGO network which is a platform of 483 Bangladeshi NGOs willing to work on human trafficking. Out of those NGOs, a total of 46 members are directly involved with Rights Jessore’s project implementation at grassroots level. The mission of Rights Jessore is to protect the human rights of all people especially women and children though promoting awareness, developing sensitivity among the duty bearers and developing a social safety net.

Activities include: legal assistance, shelter home, hotline, counselling, educational campaigns, safe repatriation, advocacy/lobby, health assistance referral, income generation, trainings and access to employment.

SHAKTI MILAN SAMAJ

ShaktiMilanShakti Milan Samaj is a non-governmental, non-profitable organisation working on HIV/AIDS since its establishment. The organisation started its work since 2003 in a group but it was established legally in 2006. Since then it has been working to raise awareness against HIV/AIDS in carpet factories, schools, slum areas; performing street drama, providing counselling to the victims in cooperation with different organisations, providing basic services to HIV infected/affected children and women. The group believes that HIV/AIDS survivors should have the right to survive in dignity and live independently in the society.  The group is taking the lead to change the attitude of society towards victims of HIV/AIDS, to fight against discrimination and to protect their rights.

Shakti Milan Samaj has 50 registered members and the process of taking membership is continuing. Among them more than 15 infected women have already received job opportunity and other members who are involved in the group are also building up and increasing confidence to do something. Similarly, Shakti Milan Samaj is also providing support to HIV infected women in basic health, treatment, income generation programme, and counselling. It is giving various skill developments training such as HIV/AIDS management training, counselling training, livelihood training, networking and advocacy training, school support for HIV infected women’s children, street drama, and nutrition support and so on in Kathmandu valley. It is also expanding its activities like awareness raising in other districts of Nepal as well.

NAVA TARA KISHORI SANJAL (NTKS)

Nava Tara Kiswori Sanjal (NTKS) was established by adolescent girls from nine squatter communities in Kathmandu in 2005. Since its foundation, NTKS has organised and empowered adolescent girls in these communities and was formally registered by the Nepali Government in 2010. Programs and campaigns aimed at improving the life outcomes of girls in squatter communities include facilitating access to education and raising awareness of reproductive health, together with economic empowerment. NTKS cooperates with local, national and international non-government and governmental organisations to advocate against child marriage, domestic violence, sexual harassment and rape.
 
NTKS envisions educating and empowering girls living in squatter communities so they can assert their basic human rights and live with dignity and social justice.
 
NKTS seeks to ensure that the rights of children and adolescent girls in squatter communities are protected and promoted.
